Read, Pray, Listen
- Read, ponder, tell me about YOUR day. I welcome your comments and read them all. I only re-post positive, helpful comments.
I pray for brothers and sisters I haven't met. They aren't strangers. They are family. They may not live in my town, but they are my neighbors. They need jobs, hope for a baby, want to get married, are sick, or are taking care of someone who is sick. They hope for all the same things I do. They need the things we all need - love, compassion, hope, faith, healing, forgiveness, reassurance, peace, kindness, empathy.
When I receive a prayer request I feel honored. I feel that God has directly asked me to pray for that person because He has brought their need to me. I feel blessed by the trust that my brother or sister shows me by telling me of their need and asking for prayer. Sometimes I cry - sometimes the prayer requests are very sad and break my heart - but that is ok. God sees our tears. And if a prayer request makes me cry, I think the person who has asked for prayer has cried many more tears than I have!
I believe that God hears and answers our prayers. I never doubt it. Sometimes the answer to a prayer is different than what we have wished for or planned, that't true. But He does listen, He cares, He loves. He asks us to pray for one another and to trust Him for the answer, so that is what I do.
We are one big family, all of us. Even a person outside of the Christian faith is my brother or my sister. If anyone asks, I pray. I do it for Jesus. And I do it for my family.
